RTE Primetime Covering The Donegal Defective Blocks Issue
RTE PRIMETIME COVERING DONEGAL DEFECTIVE BLOCKS ISSUE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Monday May 30th 2016
RTE Primetime expose on homes built with defective blocks will air tomorrow Tuesday May 31st 2016 at 9.35pm on RTE1 after the news.
RTE Primetime have been working closely with the Mica Action Group (MAG) over the last number of months on the defective blocks problem. Primetime have travelled to Donegal on a number of occasions and met with MAG, a number of affected homeowners and key stakeholders on this issue. MAG have been in regular contact with Primetime in the last few months and have worked hard to ensure a full picture of the extent of the problem and the serious and desperate situation facing homeowners has been communicated.
MAG are hosting a public viewing of the programme in An Grianan Hotel Burt, Co. Donegal tomorrow night (Tuesday May 31st) at 9.35pm and are urging anyone who thinks they may be affected by this issue or who has an interest to come along and watch it.
Eileen Doherty, Joint Secretary of the Mica Action Group said:
“This airing of this programme by Primetime is the culmination of months of hard work by RTE, MAG and a number of homeowners affected by this issue. To give this issue national media attention is long overdue and we hope that viewers will see the desperate situation homeowners are finding themselves in, through no absolutely no fault of their own”.
“We would like to ask people across the county to watch this Primetime programme and to register with us, if they have not already done so through our Facebook page, in an effort to further raise awareness of this issue and to put pressure on the powers that be to act and do something. The airing of the programme is timely in that we and a number of registered homeowners met with the independent government independent panel a few weeks ago as we continue to lobby for a government redress scheme to be put in place”.
